Well, we did it! We got married and set out on our journey of a lifetime!
Our wedding weekend was incredible – a special shout out to our friends and family who worked so hard, making it a beautiful time, and many thanks to all who attended the festivities! We feel like the day flew by and we didn’t get to spend as much quality time with everyone as we would have liked, so when we get home in August, we’ll have to have everyone over :). Wedding pictures will come soon enough as we work on editing them on this trip but for now, here are a few highlights of us.
It has been a whirlwind since Sunday when we got home from the wedding weekend. We didn’t quite realize how much we still had to do to get ready to set out in our RV and we were both exhausted which didn’t help our productivity. But actually, in reality, I am pretty terrible at prioritizing in general so I was spending my time doing important things on Monday to get ready such as dusting furniture, cleaning the pool we won’t use, and playing candy crush. Needless to say, Tuesday we were running around with our heads cut off because… we pretty much did cut each other’s heads off. It was a great first taste of what marriage truly is. Jk, Jk. But we definitely had a lot to do before our 4am departure time and my 8pm bedtime turned into a 3am bedtime. (Chris – you were right. Only time I’ll ever say that.) We said “goodnap” to each other at 3am and cuddled up for one last hour of sleep in our bed! Next thing I know, it was 5:15 and Chris’ 5th alarm was going off. So, we got on the road 2 hours later than originally planned but for those of you who know me, I’m never on time anyway so it fits!
(Sidenote here – Chris’ parents and my dad decided to come late at night while we were “sleeping” to decorate our RV as a surprise for the next morning but joke was on them as they pulled up and we were still working on packing it.)
At 6am, RV full of pink streamers and “Just Married”, we hit the road and my head hit the pillow as Chris drove the first 5.5 hours. Don’t worry, I pulled my equal weight and drove for 2.5 hours to let him sleep too.
We made it with just a few light rain squalls to our first stop in Columbus, OH. We found a park just outside the city to leave the trailer and took an UBER in to North Market for Lunch/Dinner – basically a mess hall kind of place which is Chris’ favorite. Fortunately, when we returned, our trailer and car were still there intact.
We are going to have to skip Louisville, KY today as we are trying to get to Mammoth Cave before too late. The one-hour time change is working in our favor here. It’s supposed to storm all evening so we are hoping to have a cozy first night in our camper before touring the caves tomorrow! So with that, back to the honeymoon vibes and signing off for now!
