This is it! We made it! We had a summer full of adventures – exciting, scary, good, bad, beautiful, life-changing, hysterical, risky, peaceful, thought-provoking, eye-opening adventures. It feels like forever since we’ve been home but at the same time the summer has gone by in a flash.
We ended our trip at Chris’ lake house in New York with lots of family who welcomed us home. It was a whirlwind of a weekend but it was nice to have my parents able to come join us, watch 2 year old Sadie run wild, see Chris and Rob kill it on the wakeboard, laugh at cousins getting thrown off the tubes, fly the drone, shave off Chris’ facial hair in ridiculous phases, play games (and win), brave a hurricane, write with sparklers, and remember the reason why coming home is so treasured – family.
Words can’t really describe all the impacts this trip has had on Chris and I in so many different ways but we know we’ll be telling some great stories and lessons we’ve learned to our friends and family (and kids) for many years to come. Thank you so much to everyone who has followed along with our travels and prayed and supported us as we took the adventure of a lifetime. We are so blessed to have so many people in our lives who care. And special shout out to my parents who left us a few treats to come home to!
As awesome as this summer was, we are so looking forward to being home and getting back into the normal routine of life. We feel rejuvenated and ready to get back to work! (I’m starting a new job this Tuesday eek!) We do miss our big bed, a normal sized bathroom and shower, a full kitchen stocked with food, a couch, our yard and pool, and space to get away from each other :). It is a little bittersweet that this trip we prepped and anticipated for so long has come to an end but it is mostly just sweet because life must go on and that is one of the biggest lessons we’ve learned in our travels this summer. So, in a way, our adventure hasn’t really ended… it is actually just the beginning of a lifetime of adventures. And we are ready to do this life together. <3
